What is the most popular kind of wine?

Which wine style will come out on top?

We asked the age old question. What’s your favorite style of wine – sparkling, white, red, or rosé?

When we asked the Bright Cellars team, we expected a resounding “red,” balanced with a small percentage of “white”. However, we were surprised at the amount of “sparkling” votes that were tossed into the ring. Sparkling wine is surprisingly versatile and easy to pair with food, so it makes sense to have a bottle on hand. Oh, and we’ve got some exciting news for you sparkling fans out there! We now offer sparkling as a premium option, so you can order a bottle or two separate from your monthly order.

Now it’s time for the good stuff. Drumroll, please?

THE RESULTS

Here are the results for the #1 favorite style of wine, according to our readers:

  • 4.6% of respondents said their favorite style of wine is rosé.
  • 9.6% of respondents chose sparkling.
  • 17.4% of respondents said they prefer white.
  • 68.4% of respondents said their favorite kind of wine is red.

The classic red comes out on top! Whether we’re talking Merlot, Cab or Malbec, people love a good glass of red. If you’re new to the world of wine, red wine is a great place to start. If you’re a hardcore red wine drinker, maybe it’s time to venture outside your comfort zone and explore the world of white wine.

We also asked our Bright Cellars Instagram community. Here are a few of our favorite responses:

  • I can’t choose a favorite!
  • All of the above 😂🥂🍷
  • I used to only like red, but after learning more about my taste from Bright Cellars, it’s hard to pick one!

  1. Not sure my first comment was sent, so-
First, thanks for your daily dose of wine information. It is most appreciated. Second. Question: in a two-person family where there is only one wine drinker, Pinot Noir being the choice, how and where do you best store the contents of an open bottle and how long can you expect the wine to remain drinkable? Thsnks.
