Who said you couldn’t drink white wine after Labor Day? As the season changes and the leaves fall, you may be tempted to swap out your white wines for reds. For our white wine loyals out there (or those who simply want to throw the rules out the window), fall wine and white wine go hand in hand. Here are our favorite fall white wines!
Viognier
If you’re cozying up with a glass of white wine, Viognier should be at the top of your list.
This white wine originated in the Northern Rhône region of France. Viogniers are known to be rich and oily with notes of tangerine peach mango and honeysuckle. They are often oak aged, making them comparable to a Chardonnay when it comes to richness.
Our Humdrum Viognier comes from warm climate California and boasts ripe, tropical fruit flavors on both the nose and palate. You’ll notice refreshing, lifted citrus notes and aromatic floral elements with a crisp, minerally finish.
Roussanne
We had to include Roussanne on the list of best fall wines. Roussanne is a full-bodied white wine often used as a blending grape. You’ll often find it alongside Grenache Blanc, Marsanne, and even Viognier in a white blend. However, this white wine shines on its own with flavors of lemon and apricot, alongside warm notes of beeswax and chamomile.
Chenin Blanc
The perfect fall wine doesn’t exis…
Skip the apple cider and opt for a glass of Chenin Blanc – a white wine with notes of quince, yellow apple, and chamomile. The crisp orchard fruit flavors will add festive flair to your day at the apple orchard, pumpkin carving adventures, or autumn night on the patio.
We can’t recommend our Batik Chenin Blanc enough! This wine is light in body with lifted acidity. You’ll definitely notice the dominant citrus flavors and orchard fruits like apple and pear. Plus, subtle notes of honey and beeswax.
Albariño
If you’re looking for a refreshing fall white, look no further than Albariño. From the Iberian Peninsula, Albariño (pronounced “alba-reen-yo”) flaunts stone fruit flavors, zippy acidity, and a faint trace of salinity.
Chardonnay
Chardonnay is a tried-and-true favorite – in fact, it’s one of the world’s most popular grapes. Whether oak aged or unoaked, there’s a warm, creaminess to Chardonnay that wraps you up like a warm blanket on a crisp autumn night.
