Don’t look now! Halloween is just around the corner. It’s time to put on your witch hat and get crafty. Here are 5 spook-tastic Halloween wine crafts.
Thankfully, wine lovers have a leg up when it comes to DIY projects, because your old corks and bottles can easily be recycled into crafting materials.
These simple and adorable Halloween crafts are the perfect way to get into the spooky spirit, whether you want to make some new homemade seasonal decor or you’d like a new craft to teach the kids while grown-ups sit back and relax over a bottle of fall vino.
This month, save your empty bottles and corks and check out these five delightful halloween wine bottle crafts, along with fall wine pairings.
Wine Cork Pumpkin
If you’d rather use your pumpkins to make pie, simply decorate your house with wine cork pumpkins instead. Unlike a traditional jack-o-lantern, these low-stress, low maintenance pumpkins will keep ‘til next year.
This craft pairs well with Merlot, a great varietal for fall with notes of plum, bay leaf, and vanilla, plus a slightly orange hue around the rim.
You’ll need:
- 25 wine corks
- Orange acrylic paint
- Green felt
- Twine
- A paintbrush
- Hot glue
Instructions:
Paint the ends of all but one cork. Arrange the corks in a pumpkin shape and hot glue them together. Use the unpainted cork as the stem. Cut the green felt into the shape of leaves and hot glue them on. Tie the twine around the stem, just above the leaves. Also, check out our YouTube video for this simple and fun craft.

Wine Cork Monsters
These adorable wine work critters are fun to make with kids and adults alike. They look great on the windowsill or around the house. can stand on their own, or you can make them into ornaments or wine glass charms.
Since these little goblins have some many different faces, pair this craft with a wine that also has many looks: Chardonnay. Sample an oaked or unoaked Chardonnay, and see if you can pick out all of the differences.
You’ll need:
- Wine corks
- Craft paint
- A black marker
- Googly eyes
- Pipe cleaners
- Craft glue
- Scissors
- A paint brush
Instructions:
First, paint each cork the color of the character you want to make. For instance, use green for Frankenstein’s monster, white for a ghost, and orange for a jack-o-lantern. Draw on the face with a marker. Attach the googly eyes with hot glue. Add decorations with pipe cleaners (i.e., you can give your pumpkin cork a little green pipe cleaner “stem.”)
Feeling ambitious? You can also use some frayed fabric or cheesecloth to make wine cork mummies.
Halloween Wine Bottle Centerpieces
This craft is great for red and white wine lovers alike, because you can use both dark green and clear wine bottles. Transform your empty bottles into halloween decorations that you can place on your mantle or use as a centerpiece the next time you entertain.
Enjoy these haunted centerpieces with a wine that you can sit around the table with, i.e., a wine that pairs with fall food. With notes of cranberry and baking spices, Carignan pairs well with roast turkey and curried butternut squash.
You’ll need:
- Empty wine bottles
- Frosted glass spray paint
- Orange and black spray paint
- Painter’s tape
- Acrylic paint and a paintbrush
Instructions:
First, remove the labels from your bottles using either the oven method or the hot water method. Then, spray paint your bottles. To make a wine bottle ghost, spray paint a clear bottle with frosted glass spray paint. Tape off a pointy “collar” to make Frankenstein’s monster. When the paint is dry, add the faces with acrylic paint or sharpie.

Spooky Wine Cork Skeleton
To make a wine cork skeleton, you’ll need to start saving your corks early, or host a wine tasting. As you can see, the prep work is half the fun. Let this skeleton sit around the house or attach a hook to the “head” cork to allow him to hang loose until Halloween.
While making this skeleton, it’s only appropriate to sip a bone dry wine like a rosé from Provence.
You’ll need:
- 11 regular corks
- 1 Champagne cork
- 1 bamboo skewer
- White pony beads
- 1 popsicle sticks
- Paper clips
- Black and white paint
- Hot glue
Instructions:
First, paint the corks black. Assemble the regular wine corks into the skeleton’s body and use the Champagne (or sparkling wine) cork for the head. Paint on the “bones” in white paint. Use the bamboo skewer to connect the head, torso, and pelvis corks, with pony beads in between acting as “vertebrae.” Cut the popsicle sticks. Use a center section as the “clavicle” and the round tips as the hands and feet. Connect the limbs with paperclip halves.

Ghoulish Wine Glass Candle Holders
Just as horror movies often flip your expectations on their head, you can flip these decorated glasses upside down to make the perfect Halloween candle holders for your entryway or dining room table.
Since you’ll be lighting candles when you’re done, this craft goes well with a smoky wine, like Zinfandel. With jammy notes of strawberry and blackberry plus a hint of vanilla, Zinfandel is a classic fall varietal.
You’ll need:
- Large plastic wine glasses
- Glitter Spray Paint
- Sharpie
- Hot glue
- Felt
- Straw
- Tea candles
Instructions:
First, spray the glasses with glitter spray and let them dry. Flip the glasses upside down and draw on the eyes and mouths with black marker. Use felt to make a witch’s hat and bat wings. Use straw to make a scarecrow. Place the candles on top and enjoy!
